Their patients are those who are rehabbing from various surgeries, such as hip, or heart surgery. You will be working with patients who are already stabilized. There are no procedures, no ER, no vents, you are following up on stable Rehab patients only. This is a closed system, so you won’t have multiple admissions from a huge variety of outside primary care groups. Your schedule is 7 on 7 off, 7pm to 7am. You will have a base salary, and benefits package. This is considered a premium Nocturnist position with one of the best Rehab facilities in the United States. This is an employed position with a well-established primary group looking to fill the opening due to one of their doctors relocating to be closer to family. You would be joining a group of 4 in an outpatient office based practice (no inpatient). There is some telephone call, very light, one night per week, and one in six weekends. You’d have a 40-hour workweek, 8am to 5pm, with one-week day working 12 noon until 8pm. You’d normally pull your weekday call on the same day you work your after-hours schedule. There are currently 5 Neurologist and one Nurse Practitioner within the group, all doing general Neurology, along with doing procedures related to their subspecialty training. The Group would like to find a Neurology candidate who is fellowship trained. THEY are open to other fields of sub-specialty training as long candidates understand there will be some general Neurology work within the practice. The practice is affiliated with the new medical school at Hackensack/Seton Hall, and there is an opportunity to be on the faculty at the medical school. Hackensack is a level 4 epilepsy center and a comprehensive stroke center. They have 2 offices, both located in this very nice area of Northeast New Jersey. There is a large hospitalist group of 43+ physicians and they are expanding their hospitalist program this year. The Hospitalists are part of a 600+ multi-specialty provider group employed by this health system. They are considering both Internists and Family Medicine Physicians for this opportunity. The main Hospital is the site of their hospitalist program, and is the largest acute care hospital in New Mexico with 453 licensed beds. While the Hospitalist team works with high acuity patients, they do not work in the ICU. The first day on rotation is spent with admitting, with the remainder of your week on rounding. The hospitalist providers do not take call after hours. They are expanding their multi-disciplinary unit based rounding. The shift cap is manageable at 18-20. You would work approximately 16 x 10 hour shifts per month, in 5 day blocks. Total annual hours are1856 for the 5 day blocks vs. 2184 hours for 7 on 7 off.
